Rare Woods Table

by 1 | February 06, 1980 | 0 Comments

This steel and wood table was designed to highlight a beautiful piece of sugar pine from RISD's Manning Rare Woods Collection. The pine board was 16 feet long and 2 feet wide without a single knot. Over 300 growth rings are visible in the end grain of the board. Only one cut was made to bisect the board, resulting in two 2' by 8' tops which were mounted on waxed steel bases. The two nestling halves are height adjustable allowing the table to be configured in a number of different ways. (2) 96"x 24"x 30"-44" Sugar Pine, Steel, Custom Delrin Glides.
